When should I be securing my 2023/24 Student Accommodation?

Seeing student accommodation advertised for the next academic year when you’ve only just moved in for the current one can seem a little odd right? Your probably left questioning whether or not you should be securing your property almost a year in advance or whether you have time to worry about that later on.

So why is it that students across university cities of the UK rush to secure their accommodation in November? The truth is, there is no definitive answer. Year on year trends and patterns we see in student lettings change. Perhaps some students want to get it out of the way so they don’t have to worry about it for the rest of the year, or some might think all the “best” properties will go straight away. Although that may partially be true, throughout the academic year, new properties are listed with us which means a property you absolutely love may come on the market a few months after you’ve already secured something.

In our view, there is no right time to secure your accommodation. Yes, there may be less options for you to choose from in April than there is in November, but there will still be plenty of houses to choose from with a range of styles, sizes, and prices. There is no need to rush, so don’t feel pressure to begin searching right away, do what works for you.
